Deep Dive Answers
If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.
It may feel like a big decision to try a Constellation with us. Email us with your questions or read these answers!
What’s the difference between your work and other (Systemic) Family Constellations?
Typically, Family Constellations are carried out in a workshop setting, where a gathering of people attend as ‘issue-holders’ or representatives. Several concerns will be addressed across the day, with members of the group taking roles in each others’ constellations, choreographed by a facilitator. Usually, all participants to experience benefits and insights, whether they are issue holders or representatives.
Other practitioners combine it with therapies such as counselling, hypnotherapy, somatic therapy and coaching. Corporate constellations are also rapidly increasing in popularity to help discover underlying forces within the structure of a company.
We specialise in a ‘surgical’, laser-focused approach. We usually meet a client 2:1 and don’t use other representatives. We are highly skilled and sensitive to the existential enquiries our clients bring. We aim for permanent change on core client issues – not a band aid or broad brush.
There are multiple applications out there of varying levels of depth and quality. You need to be open but discerning and choose to work with practitioners you feel comfortable and confident about.
What does a session with us looks like?
At our no-strings discovery call, we help you narrow down a clear intention for the work. This can be for yourself or on behalf of your child. A child does not need to attend. You ask us all your questions.
Then we carry out a Constellation based on your intention. This lasts at least 2 hours. Abi and Menia represent all the roles that come up in the “field.” Usually starting by representing the client, we go on a detective trail to see where dysfunction and imbalance arose in the family line, what societal and historical context could have influenced that (for example war, migration, industrialisation, patriarchy etc.) until we find the source of the energy that underlies it. The aim is to find the root, so that transformation can be catalysed at the place where the humans involved were diverted from their authentic nature. We then engage in simple ritualised actions to restore balance so that every role experiences the positive changes.
Results in every day life may be felt and noticed immediately or can take weeks or months. Children are not so set in their ways as adults and often shift faster. We arrange a follow up call with you, usually around 2 weeks afterwards. New clients often feel somewhat disorientated and unsure about how to interpret the work. The ‘Mind’ doesn’t always get it very quickly – in fact, it’s usually the last part of your whole system to catch up with what is going on! We will make sure that you have sufficient support that you feel settled and at peace with what the session brought up.
What do you need to know about my family background?
Usually just the main outlines, to get a broad family tree and sense of the background. A child does not need to contribute directly and you don’t need to share much detail or intimate information. It’s most important to get the intention at the outset right.
Having said that, during a session we often encounter difficult historical events. It is useful to inform us at the outset of severe trauma or conditions such as alcoholism, other addictions or serious mental health issues that you may know about. We are then better able to navigate the terrain safely.
Do I need to be ‘spiritual’ or believe in God to do this work with you?
No. You need an openness to life’s mystery.
Menia and Abi are not identified as belonging to any religion. We consider life to be Divine in nature and accept human beings as much more mysterious than anything we might have been taught at school!
You will need to be reasonably comfortable with us being relatively radical and unconventional, but you yourself need be nothing at all but whatever you want to be.
How do I know how much work will be needed and does it combine with other therapies?
Great questions!
Firstly, we will explain and encourage you to use our services but we will never ‘sell’ it – there simply isn’t any point. We might think it’s a great idea but unless you do, it just won’t work!
Have you ever heard the saying that the Angels are ready to answer all your desires but you must actually ask first? It’s like that. This work works when you have settled on an intention to heal and transform your life from the heart. We are facilitators, but it’s actually you whose longing for transformation enables it. You may have heard the saying, “No one else is coming to save you” and we are certainly not saviours. It’s a paradox: we don’t want you to take our word for anything – make your own mind up about whether this is the work you want – but if you do decide to entrust your wishes to us, we’re with you all the way.
From our experience, a series of 3 to 5 sessions – often spread 1 or 2 months apart from each other – can help you turn a big corner.
Sometimes, there are some clear indications that a further piece ‘wants’ to be addressed. Like all other healing, this work peels off the layers of the onion. In this case, we would advise you of that, with no pressure from us either way regarding your next steps.
The work is also ideal to combine with other wellbeing and health practices or therapies you like to use. No contraindications. It’s not better or worse, just another string to your bow.
Are there ever negative ‘side-effects’?
We are scrupulous and disciplined about our work. It is an honour and a privilege to be invited by you to consider you and your loved ones painful and traumatic issues. Sometimes difficult feelings and thoughts arise.
We take our responsibility to you and each member of your family (even when they are not present) extremely seriously. Every member is respected; we are on everyone’s side. Our work aims to bring health and benefit, not to stir or interfere.
When anybody attempts to help another with emotional or unconscious difficulties, it can be complex and temporarily confusing. Subjective conditions sometimes interfere with objectivity and professional perspectives and we are, like you, human. Like most, we are sincere and try our best.
We offer no guarantee of healing or life ‘improvement’. Life itself is a bigger teacher than anything we can do in our work and we do not know beforehand in what direction things will travel. You enter into an arrangement with us voluntarily, having made an informed decision. We have confidence in the rigour and range of our work to facilitate profoundly positive outcomes but the bigger key is that you seek this and freely consent to it.
Does anyone monitor or supervise your work?
This work is not formally recognised or regulated by mainstream governing bodies. Family Constellations is too ‘young’ as a discipline although a rapidly expanding range of nurses, NHS therapists (in the UK), counsellors, life and business coaches and complementary health practitioners have adopted it into their work.
We regularly work with other peers who are experienced in Family Constellations, alternative healthcare and energy healing in a reflexive and transparent way to help us remain open to development, criticism and progression.
It is also worth saying that we personally make a commitment to our own fullest realisation, come what may.

Transform ancestral trauma today so your family can thrive tomorrow
We acknowledge and gratefully honour our many path-showers, without whom this would not begin to be possible, especially our highly professional teacher of awesome calibre, Lexi Soulios. We also acknowledge Kim Goode, Louise Nicholl, Melanie Tremblay, Jenny Rayfield, Yeugenia Kazantseva, Mel Rader, Donna Mayne, Haumea Hanakahi, Barbara Morgan and Judith Hemming for their excellent examples and Bert Hellinger, the founder of Systemic Family Constellations.
We lovingly acknowledge Avanti Shivpuri for many things, including introducing us. Menia, in particular, offers her deep gratitude to Avanti for her ‘divine intervention’ of healing work at a crucial intersection in Menia’s life, setting her off on the long and challenging path of coming back to wholeness. In addition, Abi offers deepest thanks to Glennie Kindred and Annie Keeling whose course came just when she needed it; and to Sobonfu Somé, who demonstrated Divinity with every breath, and whom she is proud to honour as an ancestor.
